Termite Inspection
What is a "Termite Inspection"?
A termite or pest inspection is an objective visual examination of
the physical
structure of a home, from the roof to the foundation to find evidence
of temite infestation.
We recommend having a termite inspection once a year to check for
active leaks that may lead to dry rot and termite infestation and to
check for potential problems that may lead to deterioration of the
structure of your home, such as water intrusion. Finding
and correcting problems quickly can save you thousands of dollars.
What does it include? A pest inspector will examine the
exterior and interior of the home, and the attic and crawlspaces for
evidence of water damage and both subterranean and dry wood termite
activity.
Why do I need a pest inspection?
Whether you are a homeowner, or are purchasing another home, having
a pest inspection done can tell you a lot about the condition of the
home. Termites are natures way of clearing dead wood and
because much of Silicon Valley was originally apricot, cherry and other
orchards, termite activity is very common in the majority of homes in
the area.
Even if your home does not have active termite infestation, there
are still other aspects of the inspection that can help you maintain
your home. Finding excessive moisture conditions, and any other
maintenance items that you should keep an eye on before they become a
problem is a prudent homeownership practice. Just like you would
go to the dentist or doctor for a check up, so should you give your
home a pest inspection check up once a year.
If you are planning to sell
your home, you may wish to have an inspection prior to placing your
home on the market. This will give you a better understanding of
conditions which may be discovered by the buyer's inspector, and an
opportunity to make repairs that will put the house in better selling
condition.
